General Description: Our Applications Engineer (AE) will serve as the main point of contact to the customer for the design of Polar Power products and Value Added through order placement. AE will ensure correct Hybrid System and/or DC Generator components are chosen, accurately specified, and applied to the customer's designs. AE will also be responsible for confirming the order placement is made directly or through our partners.
Essential Functions:
- Interact with customers to build strong relationships with engineers, buyers and decision makers.
- Provide technical presentations that promote the company's product line(s).
- Assist with the design of Polar Power products on new programs as well as advising engineers of the best practice of use/installation of generators, solar arrays, batteries, etc...
- Work for and with a variety of strategic key customers within the North America with limited travel.
- Build real relationships. Build and develop ongoing relationships with existing clients.
- Comfortable managing existing client's account and performing business development with existing accounts.
- Educate your customers on product alternatives, features and benefits.
Requirements:
- BS degree preferred (technical - ME or EE, advanced degree is a plus) or equivalent technical experience.
- A solid engineering background with sales is a plus, technical sales, and application engineering.
- Excellent strategic and conceptual skill sets.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical applications and develop customer specific solutions, strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-prioritize and be self-sufficient in a small company environment.
- Assist in pre-sales applications development to meet customer requirements and sales objectives.
- Provide pre-sales technical expertise to the customer for the resolution of customer applications inquiries to assist in the close of sales; provided via direct phone support.
- Assists with creation of feasibility studies for customer specific application requirements.
- Ensures deliverables (e.g., phone calls, charts, reports, video/pictures, etc.) are met in a timely fashion.
- Provides post-sales applications support to meet customer requirements.
- Provides telephone and on-site engineering support for applications related issues; escalates issues as necessary.
- 3+ years of experience, strong electromechanical knowledge.
- Excellent customer service skills, as well as proficient communication skills, both written and verbal.

Polar Power is currently seeking an Assembler to work in our manufacturing facility in Gardena. Responsibilities include performing final assembly of DC generators using fabricated components. We need ambitious individuals who are organized, smart, reliable, detailed and strive to provide quality work.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years’ experience in manufacturing, assembly or related field
Experience with hand tools such as air-powered tools, torque wrenches, drills, screwdrivers
Experience with all types of fasteners, rivets, epoxy/adhesives, cleaning solvents
Can read basic instructions and write small notes (usually on work orders and travelers)
Mechanically inclined, can troubleshoot engines, experience in the stator winding, connecting cables
Experience with the assembly of alternators preferred
Able to work schedule is 7am to 3:30pm M-F. Occasional OT may be available
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, for prolonged periods and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Technician / Engineer will assemble prototype DC electrical and control systems from schematics in support of our product R&D. Tasks include selecting the proper connectors, optimizing wire routing, and designing the cable harnesses for production.
Must have experienced in soldering for prototype efforts and the selection of proper solders and fluxes to guide the production team. This individual will work in the R&D department and be one of the liaisons between the R&D and the production department.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & TASKS
- Experience working on any one or more of the following: engine controls, electric motors, generators, solar PV, hybrid electric vehicles, energy storage, or other typed of DC power systems.
- Proficient mechanical and electrical drawings & schematics, engineering orders, assembly routes, work orders, travelers, BOMs, and quality directives
- Create cable and harness assemblies from schematics. Can create neat and efficient cable routing for various projects. Manages the creation of “pegboards” for production assembly of wire harnesses.
- Ability to update or create wire assemblies in CAD along with written assembly instruction.
- Proficiency with digital controls
- Effective using hand, electric, and pneumatic tools typical of electrical assembly.
- Calibrate crimping machines, wire cutting and stripping machines. Test for proper wire lug crimps in production.
- Electronic instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, and temperature measurement, etc.
- Safety awareness for electrical components, heavy machinery, and warehouse procedures
- Candidate must be a self-starter, good critical thinking skills, strong communication skills, the ability to resolve issues, and can multitask
- Able to lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Minimum of 2 years electronics assembly experience required (5+ years preferred)
- Education minimum: Technical certification or equivalent experience in related fields over two years.
- Fluent in technical English and can work in a team environment.

JOB SUMMARY
Polar Power is currently seeking an Engine Tech to work in our manufacturing facility in Gardena. We are looking for an experienced and energetic individual who can properly assemble engines, tune and test them in a production environment.
Polar Power receives long block engines directly from the manufacturers and adds custom carburetion, controls, bell housings and oil sumps. Our engines range from the .5 to 3-liter displacement range and operate on various fuels including: diesel, propane/LPG, and natural gas. We also occasionally work with exotic fuels such as hydrogen.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect incoming engines and components (flywheels, fans, oil sumps, filters, etc.)
- Perform engine assembly: flywheels, oil sumps, bell housings, speed control solenoids, carburetors, fuel lines, engine sensors, etc.
- Manage installation of generator within enclosure or frame
- Verify proper engine operation during final test. Make sure engine has proper fluids before final testing begins. Look for excessive vibration and noise, loose parts, and other conditions that could render the generator set unreliable or unsuitable
- Manage the torque tools by keeping them properly lubricated and calibrated
- Maintain and repair production equipment used in assembly process
- Help set up workstations. Organize the parts distribution / storage in the assembly area.
- Perform work orders according to instructions
- Perform troubleshooting, conduct repairs on failed equipment (engines and fuel system).
- Assist engineers on special mechanical projects.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3 years of experience repairing or assembling small engines
- Ability to adhere to policies and procedures as well as follow and understand directions

Job Summary
Polar Power Inc. is seeking a qualified energetic individual providing the vital link between Engineering R&D, Production, and Quality Control. As new product is developed your job is to assist in developing the manufacturing and assembly process along with training the quality inspectors on the right tools and procedures to ensure the components meet their designed specifications. For products in current production, you will support the continuous improvement process of assembly and inspection.
Developing the manufacturing process will include the auditing the Bill of Materials, CAD drawings, and producing the assembly instructions for the shop floor. Selecting and assigning the most productive assembly tools and machines at the work cells and overseeing their proper maintenance and use.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Responsible for optimizing manufacturing workflows, audit BOM (Bill of Materials), relevant inspection points and data collection.
- Responsible for implementing process metrics to monitor process efficiency, and quality to determine process and design improvements required to increase throughput and overall product reliability.
- Setting up work cells for mechanical assembly of control systems, generators, cooling systems
- Expert in measurement tools and machines.
- Manage Metrology and setting up inspection tools.
- Overseeing the Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing first for machining, then mechanical assembly and finally for quality inspection.
- Experienced in fasteners, torque values, electric and pneumatic torque drivers.
- Participate in field audit of suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Assist engineering with outside laboratories and agencies to certify current and new products.
Must have 4+ years’ experience with the following:
- Engineering degree in a related field
- Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing, sheet metal manufacturing techniques and other processes such as machining, welding, and assembly.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints and use precision measuring instruments such as CMM.
- ERP experience is a Plus
- Flexible with strong ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
- Experience in project management software
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- High level of organization, time management, problem solving, self-motivation and reliability

JOB SUMMARY
Polar Power is seeking Applications Engineers to be based at the corporate headquarters in Gardena. We do very little solar grid-tie applications; most of the projects involve working with grid backup using DC generators and Solar Hybrid standalone systems in North America and other parts of the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing pre-sales support direct to the customer and to the Polar sales executive

- In conjunction with Sales Directors help managing existing client's accounts and help identify additional sales opportunities

Application Engineers will configure systems with the latest technologies in: energy storage, Battery Management Systems (BMS), DC generators, solar charge controllers, solar refrigeration. Educate customers on the latest lithium ion battery and BMS solutions, and optimizing solar hybrid solutions.
Polar’s senior engineers will provide training and direction on the latest and greatest technologies. We seek those individuals who excel at learning and problem solving.
